Six questions before you sign with anyone

Whoever you go with. Including us.

  1. Is the site tied to the booking system? If you switch booking software, ask what happens to the site.
  2. Who pays the booking fees? Some platforms add a fee to every online booking.
  3. Can the site be hosted elsewhere? Some themes and code never leave their servers.
  4. What’s refundable? Onboarding fees and deposits often aren’t.
  5. Who writes the copy? Some rebuild from what’s already on your old site.
  6. What happens in the off-season? Ask whether you can pause, and what your site shows if you do.

Questions

How much does a boat tour website cost?

Tourism Tiger builds from $2,800, plus a monthly TigerCare plan it doesn’t price publicly. FareHarbor and Xola build websites for their booking clients at prices they don’t publish. Happy Websites is $99 or $199 a month with no build fee.

Do I keep my website if I change booking systems?

Usually not with a booking platform’s site. FareHarbor keeps the site, its theme and its code, though your text, images and domain stay yours, and Xola hosts its sites only while you’re a customer. Tourism Tiger hands the site over when you take a copy to a new host. With Happy Websites, the site and the domain are yours, whatever booking system you use.

Do booking platforms charge fees on bookings?

FareHarbor and Xola charge a fee on online bookings, usually added at checkout: FareHarbor’s is 6% for smaller operators, and Xola’s is 3% or 6% depending on the plan. Happy Websites doesn’t touch your bookings or add fees; we link to the booking system you choose.

Should I keep FareHarbor or Xola?

Yes, if they run your bookings well. Payments, waivers and availability aren’t things Happy Websites sells. We build the website and link every Book now button to the booking system you already use.
