Six questions before you sign with anyone
Whoever you go with. Including us.
- Is it a website or a listing? A directory page isn’t a site on your own domain.
- How long is the contract? Some renew for 12 months unless you cancel in time.
- What’s refundable? Directory payments often aren’t.
- What does it cost up front? Custom agency builds often start in the thousands.
- How long until it’s live? Some new sites take months.
- Who owns it? Ask about the site, the domain and the photos.

Questions
How much does a wedding venue website cost?
Brian Lawrence builds custom sites from $8,000, typically up to $15,000, and a new one can take 4 to 6 months. The Knot sells storefront listings, not websites, at prices it doesn’t publish. Happy Websites is $99 or $199 a month with no build fee.
Do I need a website if I’m on The Knot?
Yes. A storefront is a listing on The Knot and WeddingWire, not a site on your own domain, and it links to your website. The Knot’s team writes your storefront description from that site. Your own website is the page you control.
Is there a contract?
The Knot’s first term is 12 months and renews automatically unless you cancel in its dashboard at least 10 days before the end, and payments aren’t refunded. Brian Lawrence doesn’t publish its terms. Happy Websites is month to month.
Should I keep my Knot listing?
If it brings you good inquiries, yes. The Knot puts venues in front of couples planning weddings, which a website alone can’t do. We build the site your listing links to.
