Toast Websites vs Happy Websites

Toast’s site comes with a Toast contract. Ours has no contract, and it’s yours if you leave.

Toast Websites is the website builder from Toast, the Boston restaurant software company that also sells a POS for food trucks. It comes with Toast’s Digital Storefront Pro suite, at a price Toast doesn’t publish, and Toast contracts renew for a year at a time unless you give 30 days’ notice.

Toast Websites FAQ

Is Toast legit?

Yes. Toast, Inc. is a restaurant software and payments company based in Boston, BBB accredited since 2016 with an A+ rating. Its Trustpilot score is 2.6 out of 5 from about 1,500 reviews, and complaints there include contracts and early termination fees.

How much does a Toast website cost?

Toast doesn’t publish the price. Toast Websites come with its Digital Storefront Pro suite, which also includes online ordering, or with its Premium suite. Toast’s POS software starts at $0 a month with higher card rates on its Starter Kit, or $69 a month on its Point of Sale plan, and Toast says it has plans for new trucks.

Can I cancel Toast anytime?

Not without a fee during your term. Toast’s merchant agreement charges an early termination fee equal to the software fees left in the term, or $150 for each month left on a pay-as-you-go plan. Pay-as-you-go plans can also carry an inactivity fee if you miss card processing minimums, which is worth checking if your truck takes a winter break.

Do I own my Toast website?

Not the site itself. Toast keeps the rights to its software and services, while your data, business name, logo and domain names stay yours. When the agreement ends, your access ends, and you can ask for a copy of your data within 30 days.

Is Happy Websites a good Toast Websites alternative?

For the website, yes, if you want a published price, no contract and a site designed and written for you. A Toast site pulls your menu, prices and online ordering straight from your Toast POS, which we can’t do. Keep Toast for orders and payments; we link your Order button to it.
